When they returned with joy, amazed at the power they had experienced, JESUS rejoiced in the SPIRIT and praised the FATHER for revealing HIS truth to the humble rather than the wise and learned (Luke 10:21-22).
Then, in verses 23-24, JESUS turned privately to HIS disciples and told them how blessed they were to see and hear what HE was revealing. Many prophets and kings in the Old Testament had longed to witness the coming of the Messiah, but they only saw it from a distance through prophecy and faith (Hebrews 11:13).
2. What Did the Prophets and Kings Desire to See?

But their blessing was not just physical sight—it was spiritual. Many people in JESUS’ time saw HIM but did not recognize HIM as the Messiah. The Pharisees, religious leaders, and many others rejected HIM despite seeing HIS works (John 12:37-40). True blessing comes when GOD opens our spiritual eyes to see HIS truth (Ephesians 1:18).
4. How This Applies to Us Today
Although we were not physically present with JESUS, we are even more blessed because we believe without seeing (John 20:29). Through the HOLY SPIRIT, we have been given understanding of the mysteries of GOD’S kingdom (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

1. Through the Word of GOD – The Bible reveals CHRIST to us, and when we read with faith, we see HIS truth (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
2. Through the HOLY SPIRIT – The SPIRIT teaches us and opens our understanding (John 14:26).
3. Through Faith and Obedience – When we live by faith, we experience GOD’S presence and guidance (Hebrews 11:6).
4. Through Fellowship with GOD – The more we seek HIM in prayer and worship, the more we see HIS hand in our lives (Jeremiah 29:13).
